Rugs are a gorgeous and limited, which means inevitably, they are fakes. To avoid getting a fake rug, follow these simple steps.
- Flip the rug - As easy as that, since Authentic Rugs are handmade, the knots on the back side of the rug will have imperfections. Machine-made rugs however should have no imperfections making it unauthentic.
- Look at fringes - Not all rugs have fringes, but if yours do, check if they are sewn or glued-on. If they are, it is most-likely machine-made. On authentic rugs, weavers leave extra material when they finish the side, which becomes the fringe.
- Check material - Authentic rugs are always made of natural materials. Wool, cotton, and silk are the most common. If it's made of synthetic or man-made materials, it is most-definitely fake.
- Ask an expert - Fakes are meant to look real, so if you are still unsure take it to your local dealer or ask us.
