Collection: Kashan Rugs

The city of Kashan, the capital of the Iranian province of Isfahan, is the source of the for Kashan oriental rugs. One of Iran's oldest cities, Kashan was a well-known silk production hub that produced some of the best Persian silk rugs in antiquity. The classic pattern found most frequently in these Kashan oriental rugs is a central medallion with corners on a background that may include several curved floral shapes and sprays, vines, and arabesques. Since the design of Kashan rugs has mostly not altered over the years, identifying a Kashan rug is not too difficult.
